Set in the fictitious town of Green Valley, Colorado on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains, soon after the American Civil War ends, it is the story of a friendship between a thirteen-year-old Iowa farm boy and an orphaned Irish girl on a mission to find a magic pocket watch.
